DisAbility Partners: Your Pathway to Independent Living

We are a private, non-profit, community-based organization. Regardless of income, we provide independent living services, community education, advocacy, and more. As Centers for Independent Living, we have resources for people with all types of disabilities.

Mission: Partnering with individuals and the community to enhance, advocate for and support personal choices, independent living and community inclusion.

Person First Services Day Program

DisAbility Partners is now offering Person First Services, a licensed Day Supports Program for Persons with intellectual/ developmental disabilities, serving individuals in Haywood, Jackson, Macon, Graham, Cherokee, Graham and Clay Counties. Person First Services offers Innovations Waiver Services through LME/MCO and private pay.

  • Community Activities
  • American Sign Language
  • Cook-Outs
  • Community Volunteering

Informational & Referral

We maintain a database of information on disability issues such as; housing, health services, assistive technology, etc.

Independent Living Skills Training

Staff members offer training to give people the skills they need to reach independence.

Peer Counseling

Staff members with disabilities who have learned to live independently and be self advocates act as role models in obtaining independent living goals.

Advocacy

We assist the person to identify areas of need and learn self advocacy skills in medical, legal, employment and social areas to obtain an independent lifestyle.

Social Activities

Activities to develop and support relationships such as our potluck dinners held monthly at the center.

Family Fun Day

Persons with cross-disabilities participate in a day of festivities and adaptive recreational activities geared toward total access for everyone.

ADA Consulting

Assessment of ADA compliance in areas of accessibility, employment and reasonable accommodations.
